Spend two hours inside Nguyen Art Gallery with its owner, Mr. Henry Le, an art collector and curator who has followed Vietnamese painting for decades. He guides you through four exhibition rooms, then sits down with you over tea or coffee to share the history of Vietnamese modern art and the personal stories of the artists behind the canvases.
The gallery opened in 2006 and is ranked among the Top 10 fine art galleries in Hanoi. Its name, Nguyen Art, means “Original Art”. Most works are oil on canvas or lacquer paintings (son mai) by emerging Vietnamese artists, whose pieces reflect everything from spiritual and aesthetic themes to social and political concerns.
- Learn the story of Vietnamese modern fine art from a curator, collector and gallery owner in one person.
- Hear untold stories about artists that no guidebook includes.
- Enjoy high-end hospitality, with tea, coffee, wine and Hanoi Beer.
- Collectors and buyers who choose a painting during the visit receive good prices.
Meet Mr. Henry Le at Nguyen Art Gallery and step into the art room with a welcome drink and a short briefing. Vietnamese tea and coffee are served, and wine and Hanoi Beer are free flowing.

Tour the four exhibition rooms with your host, who explains the paintings one by one, including the artists, the materials and the stories behind each work.

Relax with tea or coffee and talk with Mr. Henry Le about Vietnamese artists, their lives, and how they kept their passion alive through the ups and downs of 20th-century Vietnamese history. The visit ends with a small gift.

Short on time? A condensed version is available: about 5 minutes for the welcome drink, 20 to 25 minutes in the four art rooms, and 60 minutes of conversation over tea or coffee.
Le Xuan Huong (Henry Le)
Henry trained in fine arts at the University of Industrial Fine Arts, graduating in 1997. In 2006 he opened Nguyen Art Gallery, and it has since grown into one of the best-known galleries in Hanoi.
As an appraiser he authenticates original Vietnamese works, lacquer and silk among them, and reads their technique, symbolism and cultural value. As a collector he has spent years finding emerging artists and giving them exhibition space. On the tour, all three come together in one conversation, held in fluent English.
